Working at Grandvalira
Grandvalira is formed by three different companies: Saetde (the company that operates the Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig and Encamp sector) + Ensisa (the company that operates the Soldeu, El Tarter and Canillo sector) + Nevasa (the company that markets the product).

In 1956, the businessman and ski champion Francesc Viladomat installed the first ski lift on the peak of Coll Blanc in Pas de la Casa. Powered by a lorry engine, the lift could carry up to 450 skiers per hour. From then on, the resort grew at an average of one new lift per year. Seven years later, the first ski lift in Soldeu entered into service and the Baró, Salvans and Torrallardona families launched a private capital venture. The first automatic snow cannons were installed at Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig in the 1980s, whilst the Riba Escorxada sector, accessible from El Tarter, opened at neighbouring Soldeu. In 1993, the Commune of Canillo became the majority shareholder in ENSISA (the company set up to operate Soldeu El Tarter), whilst Credit Andorra became the second-largest stakeholder in the enterprise. The first 8-seater cable car in the Pyrenees entered into service in 1996, and a new sector, Canillo, was opened. The first six-seater detachable chairlift in the region, operated by SAETDE, was installed at Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig in 1997.
By October 2003, the two resorts were already physically connected, and this was when the boards of SAETDE and ENSISA, the companies engaged in operating Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig and Soldeu-el Tarter, announced the long-awaited merger. In this way, the two Andorran ski resorts formed the largest skiable domain in southern Europe. And its name was Grandvalira.
The Grandvalira skiable domain is formed by 6 different sectors, all linked by slopes and lifts, so there is no need to take off your skis to get from one sector to another. SAETDE is the company engaged in the technical operation of the Encamp, Grau Roig and Pas de la Casa sectors, whilst ENSISA does likewise in the Canillo, El Tarter and Soldeu sectors.
Every winter, more than 1,200 people form the team that runs the largest skiable domain in southern Europe, grouped into the following areas:

Activities are also provided in summer at the Grandvalira Soldeu-Tarter-Canillo sector, generally from July to September, and catering facilities are also open.
Vacancies in the summer season are reserved for people with Andorran nationality or resident in the country (with work permit).

CALENDAR AND STAGES IN THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS FOR THE WINTER SEASON
The recruitment process for the winter season begins in September, once personnel returning from the previous season have been confirmed. Applicants are required to enter their detailed CVs on the website, providing personal and contact information, as well as describing their experience and training, particularly as concerns the snow and skiing.
From that point on, until the month of October (generally speaking), depending on the vacancies available and the profiles of applications received, candidates are selected and their appointment is confirmed. Whether or not their application is successful, all applicants who correctly register on the website database will receive an email informing them whether they have been selected.
Similarly, when a person is selected, they receive a preliminary contract (depending on country of origin, it is essential to be able to travel) and work conditions (hours, salary, starting date) are explained to them.
According to posts, vacancies and other factors, such as snow conditions, there are normally two starting dates for workers: in early-December (the first weekend in December or the last weekend in November, depending on the year); and mid-December (before the Christmas holidays).
Similarly, work is guaranteed until March 31, after which this depends on the closing date, snow conditions, holidays… Some staff continue working at Grandvalira until the resort finally closes, usually in mid-April.
Immigration procedures to obtain an Andorran residence and work permit usually take 3-7 days to complete, depending on whether or not the person is registering in Andorra for the first time, so it is necessary to arrive in the Principality 7-10 days before you are due to begin work. In any case, the SAETDE or ENSISA Personnel Departments will arrange these dates and procedures individually with successful candidates.
